Literature Text

dear darling broken boy,
your shattered bones and torn skin
skatter along the floor,
and your blood leaves stains on the carpet,
leaves stains in my mind,
leaves stains in my heart.

and your broken wings need mending,
so you can fly a w a y
from here
from me
and leave your stains on the clouds
along with your tears so tomorrow i can hang
your cheeks outside to dry.

go rearrange the stars and fly like icarus,
go rearrange the world and be your own,
go.just go.just leave
me here to catch your tears whenever those
clouds break in blue skies. and leave me
here to feel the blades
of grass cutting and curling and dying beneath my feet
beneath the sky
beneath you
beneath your being.
(under your broken wings, leave me here.)
Old poem 05

full title:i count footprints to measure your wingspan

this is for:
every broken boy
and every broken girl
and everyone who walks behind them to pick up the pieces craving to put the puzzle back together.
